Financial Branch Meeting Video Leak
by HiddenPimo inremember last year the financial video was leaked and subsequently taken down.
is there a copy anywhere available.
my dad says he wants to see it with his own eyes since it says many things about why they really got rid of so many kingdom halls and simplification of literature (such as magazine reduction).. i miss the leaks like that because you can't argue with your own peoples material.

Help: project to gather statistics on JW congregation finances.
by Anders Andersen inmany countries demand that charities publish a yearly summary of their finances.. where i live (netherlands), charities must publish these statements themselves, and jw do this at jw-anbi.nl.
(i'm quite certain almost no jw knows about that site btw.).
anyway i've been working on automatically harvesting data from all the congregation finance statements to gain more insight in how the borg is doing over time.. now it occured to me that i could do this analysis for more countries and get an even bigger picture.

@truthseeker,
That's awesome, saves me a lot of trouble I guess :-)
Is your file published anywhere? Would you mind sharing it so I could include it on a website on JW finances? -

@Berrygerry,
That file you linked to, did you compile it? If not, do you happen to know who did?

@Attewc:
Thanks!
Those stats for Australia look very nice. Would you be willing to share the raw data and your analysis files?
The pictures on this forum appear a bit (too) small or compressed. -

Dear Jehovah,
So strange that while you are my bestest friend, you have never once initiated a personal conversation with me. Even this most recent letter wasn't written by you but by some anonymous human being I've never even met. And the letter wasn't even inspired either.
It appears this unknown random stranger on the interwebz has initiated more conversations with me than you have. Huh...who could've known?
Anyway, talk to you later in prayer. Maybe tonite is the first time after roughly 25.000 prayers that you'll actually say something back? Or not...it's ok with me either way. I'm just a sucker for paradise/heaven/Valhalla/Nirvana so I'll keep trying. Amen.

I'm with Gorby on this one.
I'm not religious, but I'm not against people worshipping in peace.
I don't see the need to bring Watchtower down. They only need to change some harmful aspects of their religion.
One aspect is the fear and persecution complex. Religions need to be open and inclusive instead of closed and exclusivist like Watchtower.
Activism like this pushes Watchtower to become even more closed, fearful of persecution. It pushes the us vs them agenda.
I see that as counterproductive.

Observed at the Memorial
by john.prestor inso i went to the memorial the other night, there's a kingdom hall on the bus route back from a local college where i was doing some research and admiring the architecture.
i'm in my street clothes, i look nice but i stood out like a sore thumb.
i went in as it started and got a seat in the back.

This lady next to me tried to show me scriptures, I kinda blew her off enough that she stopped and left me to myself. I got the vibe they do that knowingly or not to see if you'll obey them: Look at the scripture, listen to me read or explain it, do as I say. I'd welcome other posters thoughts on that.
I don't think they do this knowingly for that purpose, but rather automatically and subconsciously. Those who read along are judged and labeled as meek, willing to learn the bible truth, honest hearted. Those who don't want to read along are judged and labeled as obstinate, probably unwilling to learn Bible truth, independent. They might still be saved but they'll be watched with suspicion rather than joy.
I think it has to do with roles. Jehovah's Witnesses are not like the former Bible Students that my great-grand mother joined in the early '20s. They are no longer "students" in their mind. They can only be teachers. They only relate to non-JW's in a superior teacher role.
Wow, what a powerful thought. Indeed, JW don't see themselves as Bible students but really as Bible Teachers...and the only good ones too. So much arrogance packed in a thin veneer of humility...
